Why Does Using a CQB Bolt Cause OVER HOP & Unstable Range?

Some players using the T-N.T. KSC-MP9 Retrofit Kit may have questions regarding CQB Bolt compatibility, HOP adjustment behavior, or inner barrel installation.

Below are several common situations and adjustment suggestions for reference.


  1. Why Does a CQB Bolt Cause OVER HOP & Unstable Range Performance?

Some players may notice that after installing a CQB Bolt in the MP9, the gun may still produce over-hopping, unstable BB flight, or reduced effective range even when the HOP setting is adjusted to the minimum.

The main reason is that the CQB Bolt reduces overall gas output and joule energy compared to the standard factory-spec Bolt.

At the same time, the T-N.T. KSC-MP9 Kit features a highly responsive HOP system designed around the standard MP9 output configuration.

As a result, when paired with a lower-power CQB Bolt setup, the original HOP setting may apply excessive HOP pressure, affecting BB flight stability and overall range consistency.

Recommendations:

• Avoid excessive HOP adjustment
• Use lower HOP settings whenever possible
• If necessary, slightly reduce HOP nub pressure to better match the CQB Bolt setup
• Fine-tuning the HOP pressure can significantly improve stability and consistency


  1. Minimal Change During HOP Adjustment

Some players may feel that the HOP adjustment produces only subtle changes, leading to concerns about possible bucking issues.

In reality, the T-N.T. KSC-MP9 Kit already provides very efficient HOP engagement, so it does not require large adjustment ranges like many traditional systems.

Recommended checks:

• Visually inspect whether the HOP contact area changes during adjustment
• If adjustment feels stiff or inconsistent, apply a small amount of silicone oil to the contact area between the adjustment ring and HOP nub
• Proper lubrication usually restores smoother adjustment feel

Please note:

Only a very small amount of silicone oil is required. Excessive lubrication may cause bucking slippage or negatively affect air seal performance.


  1. Inner Barrel Retaining Screw Installation Notes

If the inner barrel is removed for maintenance or replacement, please pay close attention to the retaining screw tightening force.

Over-tightening the retaining screw may place excessive pressure on the inner barrel, potentially affecting BB stability and shot consistency.

Correct installation method:

• Apply a small amount of thread locker to the retaining screw
• Tighten only until the inner barrel is securely fixed
• Do not over-tighten
• Allow the thread locker to fully cure before use
